At Home Glow
Please Don't Tan. A love letter from your Esthetician.
Please Don’t Tan As we prepare for warmer weather (short, sundress, and swimsuit season is almost here!) your Esthetician asks you to rethink your tanning plan. Sure, golden tanned skin is popular and appealing but you know what isn’t? Skin Cancer. Premature Aging. Unnecessary Sagging skin.
Just one tanning session can increase the risk of developing skin cancer (melanoma by 20%, squamous cell carcinoma by 67%, and basal cell carcinoma by 29%
Fine lines, Wrinkles, Age spots, freckles, and other discolorations, Scaly red patches (actinic keratoses, thought to be the beginnings of skin cancer), Tough, leathery skin that feels and looks dry and rough are all the visible signs of premature aging and skin damage caused by tanning!
This is all preventable!!!
If you're wanting to achieve the perfect summer time glow you have options! Not only are there amazing spray tan facilities available now ( You can schedule a spray tan at Hope Esthetics!) but there are also a TON of at home self tan products!
To make it even easier we will think some for every budget here!
Starting on the higher end at $40-30 we have my two personal favorites
I love these two because they are both a fluffy mouse texture, which created an easy streak free result that lasts for up to 7 days! I recommend using a tanning mit or a disposable glove to apply these products to the body! When applying to the face, use a fluffy brush such as this one!
Another great at home tan option would be gradual tanning products such as this
This product can be used everyday to build up a 'natural' tan within a week! It is also super budget friendly costing under $10!
Some helpful products and tips to achieve your perfect at home tan include
1. exfoliating!- You should always shave/wax and exfoliate prior to applying your tanning product of choice. This step helps to remove dead skin cells to provide the perfect canvas for an even patch free tan.

2. Moisturize! Apply a gentle scent free moisturizer to you knees, elbows, hand, ankles or anywhere that is normally dryer to avoid those harsh product tan lines!
3. Using a mit like this or a back and body applicator like this help to get those hard to reach areas alone!
Please remember to wear sun protection! Sunglasses, hats, SPF! Stay hydrated and limit the exposure when possible! Reapply your SPF as directed!
